KARIJINI Wedding

How did this dress end up looking like this? Mel is an absolute LEGEND... this tiny bride treked up gorges and out onto dusty red roads in her wedding dress and never missed a beat all day. Her enthusiasm and energy even though it was at least 40 degrees was inspiring. The red of the earth soon had made an amazing change to the dress. Read on to find out more about this unique wedding....or skip down straight to the awesome photos.
Josh and Mel met us at Parraburdo airport on Friday morning. All we could say the whole weekend was amazing, spectacular, look at that, look at this..... Steve was in photographers heaven and just about wore the shutters out on the cameras. We went straight out to Fern pool the location they had picked for their ceremony and the start of an amazing weekend. Steve couldn't help himself and started taking shots then and there as Mel and Josh had a swim in the pool to cool down. What a fantastic setting for pre wedding photos! Natural and casual just as it should be. The next morning was the wedding day and bright and early we caught a few photos of Josh getting ready for the day, love that T shirt, Josh... Then over to Mels tent to capture her and Kate getting ready. Kate looked like a little blue wren in her dress. The colours of the whole day where amazing (oops theres that word again) We drove Mel out to the ceremony, thank goodness for airconditioned four wheel drives, and then she made the climb down into the gorge in her wedding gown! Mel met up with her Dad and he walked her down to the ceremony. Look at those cute little flower girls in their Akubra hats and Blundstones.... After the ceremony a lot of the guests took the opportunity to have a swim before making the long trek back up to the top of the gorge. We kept Josh and Mel back for a while to get some shots before heading back up and off to so many places that I can't remember them all..... It was such an interesting day travelling over 150 km on dirt roads to locations that we had picked out the day before. Josh and Mel are huge fans of landscape photos and the whole area was so fantastic that it was hard to settle on one spot to take the photos, so we didn't.. we went every where. Eventually we headed back to the camp for a quick freshen up and then down to the reception where every one was ready for a bush tucker wedding reception....
When we saw Mels dress the next day Steve couldn't resist getting the photo of it hanging on the tree to show of the red earth colours.
We both really want to pay tribute to some amazing people that we met up in Karijini... Geoff Leeder, celebrant extrodinaire.. who did a brilliant job and was a delight to spend time with.
Fiona, Peter,Francis and all the staff at the ECO retreat who made us feel welcome and did a great job of everything during the whole weekend.
The parents of the bride and groom who also made us feel as though we were part of the family, thank you.
Mel and Josh, thank you for asking us to be part of your day. It truly was a most memorable experience. Thank you for going the extra miles for us to get the photos, even though it was so hot and dusty. You are both awesome legends...
and last but not least Steve who took the most amazing wedding photos that I have ever seen, kept his cool all day and drove us all over the place to get these fantastic shots, you still amaze me after all these years...
